I don't see it. Why would a team that might not even make the playoffs waste pieces on a rental? Miller wants to win the cup so why would he re-sign with the Caps?

One of the best. Crosby is the best, no matter how much you hate him.

Because GM's that might lose their jobs sometimes will do anything to save it. St Louis fans need to pay closer attention to how the NHL works.

They do have a franchise type player , having a career year. And it would be a shame if he does not make the playoffs.

Amen to that! Buffalo hasn't won a Cup, but after 2006 we all understand the value of making the moves you need for depth or wherever you may have a weakness to insure to get to the promised land. The Blues may not win a Cup with Miller, but I certainly like their chances a whole heck of a lot better if they deal for him. Especially if it means parting with a non-roster player, like Rattie, and/or an underutilized asset, such as Stewart, or someone who doesn't fit their long-term plans, such as Berglund. Even if they don't extend Miller, giving up pieces such as those to improve your odds would be investments well-worth making for St. Louis. I still think something happens where Miller ends up on another team (possibly Islanders, Hawks or Wings?)... and then the Blues fall short in the playoffs again and face the rhetoric of "what if?" over the offseason.

You all would make lousy poker players. Patience is a virtue, there's no need to rush.

I'm not in all that big of a hurry to acquire Miller just in time to send him over to Sochi to play in the Olympics. I'm good if we can play this out until after the Olympics.

Obviously, you didn't.

Deadline deals don't guarantee Cups. They never will.

In the end we will get Miller and it will be for way less than you think. See: Jay Bouwmeester and Chris Stewart/Shattenkirk trades

Silly Blues fans . Miller will get dealt elsewhere . Our new GM will get a good return and you guys will be golfing in early June while another Western conference team is in Stanley Cup finals. I have been a Blues fan since they came into the league in 1967 . Love to see them win a cup . No one is cheering against you. What you don't want to realize is you have give something to get something. You got lucky on a few deals . Good for you . We have a new GM that is not going to let his legacy be getting fleeced on the second best goalie in franchise history.

I asked earlier how many conference final have the Blues been in since 1971? Never pulled that one move to get you to the promised land? Pulling a signature move also tells the players on your team you believe in them and are willing to give them the help they need. Guess You believe more in your prospects and draft picks than this group? Good to know.

They have pulled the trigger on those kinds of moves and they didn't pan out the way everyone hoped.

It's rare that they do.

Once the deal makes sense, the Blues will make it.

No, the biggest move near the deadline that was meant to 'put the Blues over the top' was when the dealt for Keith Tkachuk. He was the supposed final piece.

They got as far as the Conference Finals in 2000 - 2001 and lost to Colorado.

Like I said, those deals rarely work. If something makes sense, great.

San Jose paid the Blues a bunch to get Bill Guerin - didn't work.
Atlanta paid the Blues a bunch to get Tkachuck - Bigfatfail
Carolina paid the Blues a first (Patrick Berglund) to get Doug Weight and he helped them win a Stanley Cup.

I hope like heck the Blues can work out a deal for Miller, but it has to be reasonable.

Lots of them do though , If you don't make them you never have a chance because some other teams will . Like I have said before 2014 first , 2015 first , 2015 second , Buffalo retains half of Millers salary. You trade Halak to some one to recoup one . Your picks are late round , really seconds . You would not even look at those players for 3 to 4 years anyways. Buffalo is looking to gather picks . Will fit in their plans.

Exactly. If Ted lets GMGM make a desperation move for Miller, without addressing any of the more pertinent issues plaguing this team, then Ted needs to sell the team.

GMGM is already gone after this season, barring a miraculous deep playoff run. Ted better put the clamps down on him wanting to improve in net for 1 year.

That is a fair trade as long as the 1st is conditional on playoff performance or if we re-sign him.

Miller for Ovi clearly....
as we need to get to the cap floor next year. Also included,Chimera, Holtby and a 1st rounder. The Capitals generous package includes, Ville Leino, Mikhail Grigorenko and a conditional 7th rounders in 2017. Miller's wife is retained by the Sabres as an Icegirl through 2016 with Garth headed the other way to act as Valet to the former Sabres and stand-up comedian/Hype Man on the Capitals Team flights.

C'mon Murray, get this done. We shall not be fleeced!

So you screw up resigning him and we pay for your lack of negotiating skills , Yeah right!
